Egg Vase

72.00

This medium sized egg vase was fired in a wood kiln a Dan Finch’s Pottery in Eastern North Carolina. The beauty of wood fired pots without introducing salt into the kiln is that you really get to see the effect of the flame licking the pots.

This egg vase is lined with a glaze inside but there’s no glaze on the outside. I love the variation on it from the flame and wood ash whisking through the kiln. We fired this kiln with oak, paulownia and pine. Each wood gives a different effect and ash. Pine tends to be green and glassy whereas oak more matt and yellow. You can really see the oak ash on this vase.
