Straight Vase

This vase was inspired by the shape of old bottle kilns like the one at Winchcombe Pottery in the Cotwolds, in England.

I dipped it in a highly siliceous slip (high in silica), although some might call it a highly salacious slip! It can get pretty juicy like on this particular pot.

Whilst the slip is still wet I swipe it with my finger to create the chevron patterning. You can also see where the vase was facing the firebox and got a bunch of wood ash hitting it and melting down. I love seeing the action of the fire!
