Shigaraki yunomi with box

$110.00
Sold Out

I made this yunomi in Shigaraki, Japan during my residency there in 2019.

I really like this yunomi. It is so rich and you really get a sense of the character of the clay due to the carved sides of it.

Shigaraki is famous for its clay and particularly the feldspar chunks in it. I was on a mission to find some whilst I was there. In searching around I found that there are several different clays in Shigaraki and made a couple of different blends. They came out very nicely which was a relief.

I used mostly cherry wood with some pine to fire and it was a challenge… in the midst of a hurricane. 4 days and nights firing through driving rain. A firing to remember!

I had the boxes made to fit my pots at the end of my residency in Japan. I also purchased some traditional yellow cloth which the pots get wrapped in, inside the boxes.

I am keeping a couple of these because I really like them.

Dimensions: Approximately 4” tall x 3” wide

*

I use USPS and UPS and send tracking information after shipping each order.

I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.

Thanks! I promise I don’t email often. I should email more but frankly it just isn’t as fun as making pots or drinking tea.

Thank you!
