Spouted bowl, Utah
Made at Utah State University during my time at grad school there.
It was made with an iron rich stoneware and then fired in the double wide train kiln. We fired in the middle of summer which was foolish but the only time it worked for the crew.
It was so hot that we took 3 hour shifts in the middle of the day when we would normally do 6 hours. Then we cooled the kiln in reduction for about 12 hours. It was a bit of a brutal firing but the results were great. This one had something else stacked inside it and I really love the marking it got.
The outside of the bowl has the characteristic stony grey blue ash you expect from cottonwood. We used a lot of cottonwood in the firing so that makes sense.
*
Dimensions: Approximately 2.5” tall x 10” wide
*
My pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. I high fire them until they’re vitrified, around 2350°F.
I use USPS and UPS and send tracking information after shipping each order.
I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require a little extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.
