Apprentice pot: Hamish pitcher from Mark Hewitt's
This is a nice pitcher that I saved from my time as an apprentice for Mark Hewitt in North Carolina.
It was fired in Mark’s large wood salt kiln for several days with mostly pine. The clay is Mark’s special blend of local North Carolina clays. This clay takes to salt firing really well.
The glaze on the inside and rim is made from a local granite (Salisbury pink). I love where it got hit with ash and ran. It reminds me of the Solomon Loy whisky jug which graces the front cover of Mark Hewitt’s book “The Potter’s Eye.” I still really like this pot but just don’t have space to move to England with it.
It was in the 100th firing of Mark’s kiln, my final firing there (stamped as such on the bottom). Maybe this will be a collectors item one day!

Dimensions: Approximately 9.5” tall x 5.5” wide

My pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. I make them with stoneware clay and fire until they’re vitrified, around 2350°F.
I ship with USPS and UPS and send tracking information after sending each order.
I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require a little extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For these international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.
